Implementing a CRM solution is no small task, but with cloud technology the process is made much easier than ever before.  Low up-front cost and faster deployment make the cloud the perfect vehicle to deploy a CRM system.  But before deployment, the first thing an organization will have to do is selecting the right solution for the business.

Softwarethinktank.com has list of six best practices for selecting CRM software and I’ve added one more.  Here they are.

  1. Trial test software before making a decision.  The cloud has made it possible to demo software before you commit.
  2. Evaluate the business needs.  Map the business in a way that is unbiased in order to assess what processes and activities will be impacted by a new CRM, what needs to improve, and what needs to be maintained.
  3. Pick a Team. It is important to hear feedback from frontline users in all departments in order to ensure that you select the software that will be received and used favorably by the entire staff.
  4. Focus on deployment options.  On-premise systems require a lot of hardware, integration expenses and regular software licensing fees.  A cloud systems require less initial cost with a user-based subscription fee.
  5. Create a shortlist.  Keep in mind stakeholder’s interest, budget, availability of IT staff and industry demands, and create a list of top contending solutions.
  6. Get your numbers straight.  Include start-up costs, maintenance, and subscription fees to accurately judge the best value.
  7. Choose a dependable vendor. It is important to choose a vendor with a long reputation of trustworthy, reliable, and secure service.
