CRM 2011 includes a nice feature that allows you to edit CRM data in Excel. the benefit of this is that you can use your knowledge of Excel to easily manipulate data, matching it up to your records in CRM, and then update the values in CRM as you want.
It’s easy to do. You have to export the data from Excel. Make sure that you check the box that indicates you intend to re-import the data into CRM. This will produce an Excel spreadsheet with the records you selected.
Make the changes you want, and then import the Excel spreadsheet back into CRM.
You have to be careful to control your data well. I recently exported some data, made some changes to it, and re-imported it. It took some time to edit the file, and in the mean time another user was adding and deleting some records in a way that defeated my crude data control process. There was a fair amount of unhappiness and added work. Bummer.
